Client Presentation

We concluded the year with Rae Suter -- our VP of Client Relations who we'll miss as she graduates and goes to live an interesting life -- presenting our year-long project on Sexual Harassment training materials for our MTU clients.

The project was an integrated approach, using brochures, video, and a web site to update the university's training materials, and our presentation demonstrated how the deliverables work together to support a coherent, reliable, ethical approach to sexual harassment training and education.

Time this week

Many aspects of environmental rhetoric and discussions about climate change and sustainability occur right in our domain of work and expertise: technical communication.

This week's issue of Time is interesting for any number of those reasons, and the cover's typography is also compelling: it's the first issue of Time ever to appear without its recognizable red border and the remediated Iwo Jima iconography has immediately become the source of controversy.

Professional Development Resources for 2008-09

Team members will be required to own a copy of Making Things Happen: Mastering Project Management -- previously titled The Art of Project Management, which many team members may still have from HU2640/3640/4640. This selection will help to round out our professional-development resources, which now include a premium subscription to Lynda.com and several good technical communication and usability articles appended to our Operations Manual.

The first few weeks of the fall semester will be spent developing a shared vocabulary and collective expertise in the area of project management.
